Sustainability
Designing for the Long Term
At Re: Design, sustainability is integral to our design process and not just a buzzword. We recognize the urgent challenges posed by climate change and environmental degradation, and we’re committed to delivering projects that minimize impact while maximizing beauty, functionality, and longevity. Whether a project is residential, commercial, institutional, or public-sector, we approach every space with a tailored sustainability strategy that reflects our client’s goals, budget, and long-term performance needs. We believe great design should be both responsible and enduring, blending artistry with eco-conscious material choices, energy efficiency, and smart construction methods. Our team considers sustainability from every angle: passive design, building orientation, insulation and envelope strategies, high-efficiency systems, and material lifecycle assessments. We prioritize solutions that offer long-term savings, improve occupant well-being, and reduce operational energy use—all while creating spaces that feel good to live or work in. Designing sustainable spaces goes beyond good intentions—it requires thoughtful planning and navigating sometimes competing priorities. With a smart design, an energy-efficient home can be just as cost-effective as a traditional one—and it’s undoubtedly kinder to the planet. If your project requires a LEED-certified building, our team includes LEED Accredited Professionals who are trained in designing and documenting projects in compliance with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) criteria. We also have a dedicated Head of Sustainability who researches and proposes vetted, high-performance materials, finishes, and systems that meet your design and sustainability objectives. With Re: Design Architects, you’re not just building for today—you’re building smarter for the future.

Technology
Harnessing Technology for Exceptional Client Experiences
At Re: Design, we integrate technology into every phase of our architecture and interior design process. As a boutique woman-owned firm based in Brooklyn and the North Fork, we combine personal attention with advanced digital tools to deliver precise, efficient, and elegant design solutions. Our approach helps clients save time, reduce costs, and achieve results that are both creative and constructible. We begin many projects using LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) scanning to create highly accurate digital surveys. This technology captures millions of data points to produce detailed point clouds, enabling us to generate precise Revit-based as-built models. This eliminates manual measuring errors, speeds up field verification, and sets a solid foundation for design and coordination. We use Revit BIM (Building Information Modeling) from the earliest concepts through to construction administration. Revit allows our team to develop a centralized, intelligent model that reflects every change across drawings, schedules, and 3D visualizations in real-time. It improves coordination with consultants, accelerates decision-making, and minimizes costly delays—especially on complex or institutional projects. Our technological rigor extends to the interior design process. We use Design Spec, a cloud-based tool for furniture and finish specification, procurement tracking, and approval workflows. It ensures seamless communication between designer, client, and vendors eliminating confusion, reducing errors, and keeping your project on time and within budget. We’re actively exploring how AI in architecture and design can further streamline and enhance the design process. AI-driven tools assist with code checks, clash detection, materials optimization, and design exploration allowing us to work more efficiently while devoting more time to creative problem-solving and high-level strategy. At Re: Design Architects, technology isn’t an afterthought—it’s a strategic advantage we use to deliver exceptional architecture and interiors with precision, clarity, and care.
